MOVING AS A TEAM

MOVING AS A TEAM

PostAuthor: Carbon Wyvern » Wed Sep 18, 2013 7:26 am

Alright I have been dong some serious thinking and it may still need a little work, so correct if I am wrong and please share your ideas. There is a reason that there are only 15 tanks per side, as we all know this game was made to benefit the team players. In most maps that we play most people just do there on thing and rarely work together. So when it is time for platooning to come on line I have come up with something.

It's not new by any means, but it's def something to consider. (This will not work on all maps)

-In a perfect world you would have 3 of each tank and 3 arty's if not you can sub.

-3 main groups of 4 with each group assigned 1 arty.

-The group would consist of 1 light tank, 1 medium, 1 TD and 1 heavy.

-The light tanks job is to spot, but don't to far ahead the rest of the group needs to be able to keep up somewhat. The heavy is there to take the attention off the light tank and medium. The medium supports the heavy. The TD sits back a little and pops the enemy from a distance, but can also move up to support. Arty does what arty do best and that is rain shells once the enemy has been spotted by the LT.

Granted groups will change so adapt and over come. If one group has finished their assignment they can move to support other groups or and arty will do what arty does. Until targets pop up near their group again.

I have tried this with a few guys and it works very well on maps such as mines and cliff.

using artillery is much more complex than just assigning one to a group and praying for effectiveness.
BUT having atleast 2 Arty in the group, and having those arty communicate well with the rest of the group is an arty well used.

Most of these maps are cleverly designed as to where an artillery is forced to set up and "pick his poison" so to speak as to where he wants his line of sight focused on.
Example: The dividing cliff on mountain pass prevents one arty from covering the bridge and the mountain path at the same time in most setups. but if you move to cover the mountain path then that blocks off most of the middle.
So... which do you cover?

2 artys communicating well will increase map coverage support and overlap their fire on primary targets in most known hot zones. Like peek-a-boo hill crests, and behind small dinky rocks that tanks cant shoot through.

Also don't forget that an arty player spends the most time of all the tanks on the global map screen watching the battle progress and has the potential power to direct the assault from a birds eye view while "potentially" hammering a single target 2x a min so most of that reload time is spent observing and plotting destruction.

Tier 4~10 Artillery have enough range and distance to cover the entire map
Tier 1~3... not so much lol 500m max distance to start out is like 1/3rd of the map

just my 2cents worth on artys from my play experience on PC version :harp:
